My Journey in freight and logistics commenced at the age of 21, completely ‘green’ and unable to tell the difference between a Standard Pallet and a Euro.
I joined a local pallet network member based in Witham, Essex, as a junior member of staff where my main responsibility was to raise customer orders and process the labels from the old fashioned ‘thermo film printers’ to stick on the palletised freight. However, I was always offering to help other departments in any way I could in to help further my development.
I’ve always had the hunger and a desire to learn more, always wanting to push and challenge myself, to gain more experience in order to work my way through the levels, from a junior to supervisor, a team leader, shift manager, general manager, a depot principle to an Operations Manager, specialising in UK Palletised freight.
In July 2022, I was invited to join the Bomford’s Group with the initial remit of providing Operational Support to our MD, Ian Howell, specifically focusing on areas within both Star Transport & Warehouse LTD & Bomford’s Group Ltd that require support and to drive operational efficiencies within the group.
The vision at the Bomford’s group is to create our own regional hub in the East Anglian region with the ability to provide full coverage across East Anglia, London, and the home counties, maximising groupage opportunities, creating value to our customers, offering the ‘one stop shop’ – warehousing, distribution, groupage, and full loads.
